Dr Fiona McClean, clinical psychologist

I gained my M.A. (Honours) in Psychology in 1991 and my professional doctorate (D.Clin.Psych.) in 1996 and have been providing psychological services to those in need ever since. Within the NHS, most of my career was spent providing therapy and psychological interventions to adults with a range of mental health challenges (such as anxiety, depression and PTSD), but I also spent some time within children's services. Within the last decade I have developed a particular interest in working with adults on the autistic spectrum or are otherwise neurodivergent.

I set up my own independent practice in 2018. The main focus of my work now is on providing psychological therapy to adults (18+), primarily for the impact of past trauma. I am also a qualified and experienced autism and ADHD diagnostician, and although I no longer offer a diagnostic service, my understanding of this process helps me support those considering this route or in making sense of their lives post-diagnosis. I have worked with and listened carefully to a lot of neurodivergent people, both in and out of work.

I completed my EMDR training in March 2020, my Level 1 IFS in March 2022 and my Level 2 IFS in October 2024, and find that a combination of both approaches works very well for many people.
